Christmas 2026 ยท toys made in the United States
40 gift picks from 35 US toy makers, sorted by the recipient's age and a plain price band. Each pick says what to buy, roughly what it costs, which state it comes from, and when to order so it is under the tree.
Under the Federal Trade Commission's Made in USA standard, a toy may carry an unqualified "Made in USA" label only if all or virtually all of it was made here: final assembly in the US, all significant processing in the US, and no more than a negligible share of foreign parts. Anything less has to be qualified ("assembled in USA," "made in USA of imported parts").
Searches for American-made toys peak in November and December because that is when people buy toys for someone else and want a story to go with the box: a workshop in Maine or Ohio, a toy that outlasts the batteries, a dollar that stays in a US town. This guide covers 35 makers whose US-made claims we checked on their own sites in October 2026, arranged as 40 specific picks by age and price so you can shop it rather than research it.
Price bands: $ under $25 ยท $$ $25โ$100 ยท $$$ over $100, at the maker's site in October 2026. Bands, not prices, because small shops change prices and we would rather be roughly right than precisely stale.
Mouth-safe finishes and nothing small. Every pick here is wood, food-grade plastic or organic cotton from a US shop, and the age label is the maker's, not ours.

Last minute: find it in a store. Little Tikes, Step2, American Plastic Toys, Crayola, Crazy Aaron's, Slinky, Wiffle, Green Toys, K'NEX and Lincoln Logs, Buffalo Games, Springbok and White Mountain puzzles are stocked by national retailers and independent toy stores. On December 23 that beats any shipping upgrade. Check the origin line on the box, since big brands can make some lines here and import others.
Carrier reference: for Christmas 2025 USPS recommended Ground Advantage by Dec 17 and Priority Mail by Dec 18; FedEx Ground Economy by Dec 15. 2026 dates were not yet posted when this page was reviewed.
Each maker on this page claims US manufacturing for the product named, and we checked the claim against the maker's own site in October 2026. The Federal Trade Commission requires an unqualified "Made in USA" label to mean all or virtually all of the product was made here. Some brands make part of their range in the US and import the rest, so confirm the origin line on the specific item before you buy.
It is a qualified claim. Under FTC rules a product that is put together in the US from imported parts may say "Assembled in USA" only if the assembly is substantial, but it may not carry the plain "Made in USA" label. If a toy box says "assembled" or "designed in USA," the parts most likely came from overseas.
Not automatically. Every toy sold in the US, imported or domestic, must meet the same Consumer Product Safety Commission rules for lead, phthalates and small parts. The practical advantage of a domestic maker is traceability: one shop, one wood source, one finish, and a person who answers the email if something is wrong.
Labor, materials and scale. A Maine shop milling real hardwood with US wages cannot match the price of molded plastic from a factory running a million units. The price bands on this page are honest about that: the $ band is mostly crayons, putty, yo-yos and small wooden pieces, and the heirloom furniture is over $100.
For ages 0 to 2 this guide lists wooden teethers and rattles from Smiling Tree Toys, Uncle Goose ABC blocks, Holgate's Rocky Color Cone stacker, Green Toys stacking cups for the bath, the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe, Luke's Toy Factory stackable truck, an American Plastic Toys wagon and an organic bear from Bears for Humanity. Follow the age label on the specific product, especially for anything under 3.
Made-to-order pieces such as personalized blocks, hardwood kitchens and climbing triangles need two to three weeks, so order by Thanksgiving week. Small shops using ground shipping typically ask for orders by about December 15. Big brands stocked by national retailers can be bought in a store on December 24. Every cutoff on this page is typical, not guaranteed, so check the maker's shipping page.
Some do and some do not. Larger brands such as Little Tikes, Step2, Crayola and Green Toys sell through Canadian retailers. Many of the small shops ship only within the US or charge international rates at checkout, and Canadian duties apply to toys over the personal exemption. Check each maker's shipping page or look for a Canadian stockist.
Independent toy stores and museum gift shops carry the most of them. National chains stock the big names on this page: Little Tikes, Step2, Crayola, Crazy Aaron's, Slinky, Green Toys, K'NEX, Lincoln Logs, Buffalo Games, Springbok and White Mountain puzzles. A few makers run factory stores, including Vermont Teddy Bear in Shelburne, Vermont, and Stuffington Bear Factory in Phoenix.
